Boston government jobs grow

The number of Boston government jobs are growing, according to recent labor statistics.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics’ preliminary job estimates indicate Massachusetts added 21,400 jobs in June.Over the month, the private sector added 18,200 jobs as gains occurred in Leisure and Hospitality; Professional, Scientific, and Business Services; Other Services; Construction; Manufacturing; and Education and Health Services.
Leisure and Hospitality added 6,600 (+1.8%) jobs over the month. Over the year, Leisure and Hospitality added 11,800 (+3.2%) jobs.
Professional, Scientific and Business Services added 4,700 (+0.8%) jobs over the month. Over the year, Professional, Scientific and Business Services added 26,700 (+4.7%) jobs.
Other Services gained 2,500 (+1.8%) jobs over the month. Over the year, Other Services are up 4,600 (+3.4%) jobs.
Construction added 2,300 (+1.4%) jobs over the month. Over the year, Construction has gained 11,000 (+7.3%) jobs.
Manufacturing added 1,700 (+0.7%) jobs over the month. Over the year, Manufacturing gained 4,700 (+1.9%) jobs.
Education and Health Services gained 1,100 (+0.1%) jobs over the month. Over the year, Education and Health Services gained 4,300 (+0.5%) jobs.
Trade, Transportation and Utilities jobs level remained unchanged (0.0%) over the month. Over the year, Trade, Transportation and Utilities gained 400 (+0.1%) jobs.
Information lost 300 (-0.3%) jobs over the month. Over the year, Information lost 1,100 jobs (-1.2%).
Financial Activities lost 400 (-0.2%) jobs over the month. Over the year, Financial Activities added 800 (+0.4%) jobs.
Government added 3,200 (+0.7%) jobs over the month. Over the year, Government jobs level remained unchanged (0.0%).
