One company is in the spotlight for being Boston jobs.

Working Mother magazine has named The Boston Consulting Group (BCG) one of its “100 Best Companies” for U.S. working mothers for the eleventh time. The 2017 list, published in the current issue, highlights BCG’s progressive inclusion programs, paid family leave policies, and flexible work options.

Working Mother also praised BCG for conducting its own research into topics of diversity and inclusion and engaging senior women. “As part of its work conducting research into women’s issues, this management-consulting firm recently explored the need for businesses to foster inclusion, engage senior women, and offer paid family leave,” the magazine notes. “What it found prompted internal changes, motivating leaders to appoint a director of diversity recruiting, educate managers about unconscious bias, launch mentoring for women partners, and increase paid maternity leave to 16 weeks.”

“Female consultants (no doubt pleased by the changes) have doubled their presence here since 2011,” the magazine added. “The firm pays them well and allows them to adopt flexible career paths, work part-time, and take eight-week leaves of absence.”

The firm’s Apprenticeship in Action (AiA) program was also highlighted by the magazine: “AiA has helped more than 1,000 employees pinpoint more-authentic approaches to leadership, which has prompted a shift in how they view those they work with and manage.

This creates a more supportive environment for women, who have increased their numbers in the consulting ranks by 80% over the past five years and now make up 25% of all U.S. leaders.”
