University reports that IT jobs in Boston are fueling job growth in Mass

The University of Massachusetts reported this week that IT jobs in Boston are growing at a fast pace and fueling positive job numbers for the state of Mass.
The state’s economy is expanding at double the rate of the nation’s, and the state has the IT industry to thank for the rapid growth.
According to Boston.com, global demand for technology products and increased business spending on software and equipment have provided a strong boost in Massachusetts, which has a high concentration of companies that sell high-tech equipment, components, and services, particularly to other businesses.
The Massachusetts economy grow 4.2% annually, up from 3.3% in 2010.
The state has an 8 percent unemployment rate, lower than the national average.
Boston.com reports that Hubspot, a Cambridge marketing software start-up, recently offered $10,000 to anyone who could recommend the companys next software development hire. Not to be outdone, Performable, another Cambridge marketing software start-up, offered $12,000 for a referral leading to the hiring of a software engineer
